Electricity prices - what the ****??!!

Got the new prices from AGL for electricity after January. (NSW)

A lovely increase of 41% per unit and 18% on the daily standing charge.

Surely things have to start getting better soon.

We're with Origin so guessing it will be similar. Just in time for winter, how lovely.....

Shocking isn’t it. I thought the reference price going up 20 ish % was bad enough, hadn’t counted on the discount being so much less this year.

I'm with Amber electric and my increase is tiny. Happy to share a code that gets both of us a discount if anyone wants one.

Wow, 41%!! Making my eyes water. We are in NZ (although about to move to Australia later this year, probably Melbourne). Our bill for last month came in two days ago and I thought we must've had a hike in prices because it went from something like $192 to $280. Turns out though we just used a truckload of power with rubbish wet and cold weather, because the prices are still the same. Our prices were more expensive than your current rates, @MaitlandGirl at28.5900, 18.5800, 99.8400 but now they're a bit cheaper after your stonking hike.

Off Peak units will rise to that of current peak units tariff and our solar feed in tariff will be a massive 3c/pkwh (while charging us 53c/pkwh if we use supplied electricity at that time).
However if we manage to produce solar during the hours of darkness we can get 10c/pkwh!

Can I ask a few people to kindly give me their unit prices per kw for gas and electric, and also standing charges? We are considering a move over from the UK and I’m trying to run the numbers to see if it’s doable…..

This is for NSW with AGL Energy. KwH is electricity, Mj is gas.
