Has everyone seen that Jock ( the Scottish host from Masterchef Australia) has died? He was only 46? I'm actually shocked. They've postponed the season that was going to start tonight, of course, but it is so sad . He had 4 little kids and a wife. What on earth!

I saw, in the Mail, that he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016, went in to remission but it came back in 2021 and he’d been having treatment since then. It puts a different complexion on things if that is the context.

Very true, that's an awful lot to be dealing with at once. Poor man.

Someone upthread suggested that filming of the new series hadn't been completed but apparently the whole season has been recorded and was ready to run.
What a terrible tragedy for his family.

Such a lovely guy. Thinking of his wife and children , what a shock for them.

Very sad news. He was a complicated man and had been open about struggles with anxiety. I don’t think the cancer claim has been confirmed.

Another MCA fan in the UK here.
This has been on my mind since I heard. So very sad.
I hope his family are well supported and get the space they need right now.

So so sad. I am a huge MasterChef fan and was very excited about a new season, I guess Channel 10 will go ahead and show it but it is going to be very bittersweet for everyone.

@Flatandhappy - according to the Daily Mail they are waiting to see what his wife and family want to happen with showing the new season.

I don’t think I have been this upset about the death of someone I didn’t know personally before. I suppose because they are in your living room with you every night for such a long time in a way. I keep thinking of his mind set that night and his poor wife having to be told while so far away and having to fly back from Italy with the children knowing what has happened. It’s just so sad.
