So the jug is kiln ready and then I will paint the fern inprint with oxides and glaze clear

My little cup was my first make and I'm s now glazed for firing

I have a plate I did scraffito on that's in the kiln as we speak

I am really rubbish at it - all my males are rustic (being kind !) but I absolutely love ceramics ! Maki g something in clay , and firing and painting it is just the most satisfying thing ever!

I am so so lucky to have a place 10 mins up the road that does classes . I'm halfway through my initial introduction to ceramics course and I will definitely be staying on for the follow up
Courses !

Is it expensive? I would love to do something like this but I don't have much money to spend.

Wow!!!! I love it and wish I had something similar here...

Keep your first piece. It will be great to go back to and see how your skills have developed

I go to a little studio, I think everywhere is different but to go where I go you had to do the starter course - an introduction to ceramics which is a 6 week course and cost £135 but everything is included- all materials, glazes, oxides, tools and firing .

The follow on course is cheaper at £95 and again includes everything. For that you have more freedom to make whatever you want - the initial course is structured so you have a go at every technique.

I really love it . To actually make something from a block of clay , fire it , paint and glaze it and know its unique and hand made is extremely satisfying and therapeutic!

I'm going to continue after my starter course ends .

Don't knock your early efforts, you've just started and you've got some nice looking pieces. Great to be learning a skill and to have an artistic outlet too. It's all good.

So my first ever make - little yellow. Up is home !

My jug is biscuit fired and ready to pain and glaze

My plate needs oxide and glaze

My pen pot needs firing .

This is addictive!
