Or are they a candidate for the Facebook tat threads, not that I have any intention of selling them? They are meant as small gifts for family.

I got some wooden ornaments shapes to paint. DH then bought me a bag of mixed "gemstones" when he was browsing a dollar store waiting for me at an appointment.

The "gems" are quite varied and inspired me to try using them for the ornaments. I painted the stars black using matte blackboard paint, glued the gems on and then sealed it.

I paint the other side a coordinating colour and paint names on them or use my die cutting machine to cut letters out of sparkly paper.

They are quite labour intensive, especially sorting through all the beads and things, but they are fun to make, piecing them together.

My taste is unreliable, so my question is are these tacky or would you like to put one on your tree?

What are they exactly?

They are meant to be ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree. They are about 2.5 inches across.

I like the blue one because the colours make it look more snowflake-y (not a word but hopefully you know what I mean!).
Not sure about the yellow one or the flower in the middle. I think the yellow beads would be nice on a star shaped ornament.

The beads are obviously recycled so I feel good upcycling them.

Yes, the big yellow bead is unusual. There were only two in the bag. That one is for my ginger haired dgd who likes amber and art decoish things. You can't see the sparkle in the photo sadly.

I'm not sure I'd want to hang them on my tree as they don't look very Christmassy. They are pretty though.

I think they’re pretty. I like sparky ornaments. I would put one on the Christmas tree.

Not keen. But i would hang them on my tree so as not to offend the giver. If thats what they're for.
