Harris Tweed Vanity Bags

I've been making a few bits for our local craft fair, latest being a couple of Harris Tweed vanity/hobby cases. Problem is I'm not sure how to price them, I want things to sell but preferably not at a loss.

Anyone mind telling me what you might pay for one? They are about 10" across, fully lined with the same cotton as on the front. I'll let you know how it compares with material costs once I've got a couple of replies.

Thank you.

Have you tried looking on Etsy? You'll find plenty of sellers who make Harris tweed bags, etc. It'll give you an idea of what the going rate is.

Have also done a couple of tote bags...

Thank you, I have had a look at Etsy before and been amazed at how expensive things are priced, compared to material costs. But I don't think I factor in a lot for my time, mostly because it's my hobby rather than my job.

I want to try and see what people think is fair, hopefully it will fall somewhere between material costs and Etsy prices.

Tote bags have an internal pocket and key hanger.

Etsy is REALLY expensive for sure, so a halfway point between material costs and Etsy prices is probably sensible. I'm hopeless at pricing though Wink

Those are sweet. Could you maybe offer a customisable option - a baby's blanket or baby gro or favourite sweater for the patterned sections?

Definitely an idea for the future, at the minute I make mainly for family and friends, never taken any orders as such. This is the first time I've made to sell, it's tricky trying to put aside what I would like and appeal to a range of people. Will be interesting to see how it goes, doubt I'll ever make a living from it but some pin money would be a bonus!

They look lovely. They are well made. I am on a course at the moment and we were told we could charge £10 an hour for our time including design time. This might help give you an idea.
