Adult colouring in...

Very sad i know, but its something i enjoy (although haven't done it in a while).

i have a few different colouring books with intricate designs and pictures, and i spend a lot of time colouring them in with shading etc so that they look really lovely.

well, this year i want to get back into doing it regularly, but once ive coloured a picture and spent hours doing it i dont actually do anything with it as there isn't anything i can actually do with it - i can't exactly stick it on the fridge like i would with ds's!

would it look tacky or crap if i coloured a few in and framed them and displayed them in my house somewhere? I just want to start giving a purpose to all these little pointless hobbies i have so that they are less pointless

Does anyone else do 'adult' colouring in? what do you do with yours?

Where do you get your colouring books and pens OP? I'd love to do this, I imagine its very relaxing.

If yours are good, why wouldn't you frame them? Pen is just another art medium.

Lots of interesting ones here ,that you print yourself. How about using them to mount photos in frames? Like that you wouldn't exactly be displaying them, nor wasting them.

I love colouring in-find it very peaceful & therapeutic but DH is a bit ?? when I take it to bed! Just got my DBF a colouring book & pencils for her birthday to share the joy

I bought DD2 (teenager) this giant dot to dot for Christmas. She loves it.

You could buy some card blanks and make your artwork into greetings cards? It would look lovely if you got some of those tracing paper ones and coloured them with pens like stained glass, then cut an aperture in the card.

I like doing the intricate stuff with oil pastel s then going over with watercolour paint.

So went on amazon and ordered adult colouring books, some are really intricate and take a long time. This was great for me as I needed to fill my time in and get lost from thoughts!!
Got a good set of artist colouring pencil as well, not got them out for a while just reminded me

I love adult colouring books and get mine from Amazon (if you put in "adult colouring books") loads of them come up. My favourite at the moment is a book called "LOTUS DESIGNS" and "Square Mandalas" by Creative Haven. They are only printed on one side of the paper so the colours don't seep through to the next page. One with smaller pictures is Kaleidoscopic Design colouring book by Dover Coloring Book but printed on both sides. Maybe a good one to start with. None of them are very expensive.

I use brush pens (again from Amazon) can't remember the name but also Pentel Felt Pens from Amazon (just got a large pack for about £11.00 more or less half price) some lovely colours and last a long time. They also do Staedtler felt pens - again lovely colours and inexpensive.

As for what to do with them - I don't care about that. I just enjoy doing them and find it very relaxing. I suffer from intermittent depression and use them a lot when I need distracting and they are just the job. I also purchased a daylight lamp from the Guardian this winter so I can colour with a good light and this has made things so much easier and doesn't disturb anyone else. The lamp is very slim and will stand on a table - I think it was about £25.00 but well worth the money.

I've just started the Mehndi book by Creative Haven, but I'm nowhere near finishing one, so I'm not sure what I'll do with it when it's done! I think if you're happy with the finished page, then why not frame it and put it on the wall?

I bought myself some grown up pens to colour with too and I don't let the kids anywhere near then
