Okay, I think the answer will probably be "yes, of course you can, why are you asking this question" but i'll ask it anyway - I want to knit a pattern that's designed for 4ply soft cotton in Sublime baby cashmere merino.

It knits to the same tension so it should be okay shouldn't it?

Probably. Obviously you need to do a tension square first to check that the gague is the same. Bear in mind though that it will hang differently as it's made out of a different fibre - Sublime will be more drapey and won't show up any detail stitches as well as cotton.

Thanks Daisy! It's to wear over an dress for a wedding so more drapey would be good.

Happy knitting!

As Daisy says, do a tension square and since it is to go over something make sure that if you err in any way you err on the bigger, rather than the narrower side iyswim

Your yardage might be significantly different too, so you may need more/less balls than stated in the pattern.

Thanks bunder. I always buy based on yardage/meterage unless I'm buying the yarn specified in the pattern. It can be very different between brands/fibres can't it!
