A challenge for you

I've been meaning to do this for ages, and thought, maybe if a few of us do it I'll stay motivated.

I was reading this article, and thinking I've been struggling to get motivated creatively recently, so maybe doing something every single day will help.

I hope some of you will join me, I'll start tomorrow. With the aim of creating 365 pieces of work.

Wish me luck.

Nothing for today, but I have a couple of projects to work on tomorrow, so 2 updates then. Promise!

I didn't thinkk I would get anything done yesterday but while 24 and House were on I did some doodling with yarn and made my first href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/43095658@N03/4573486977/" title="freeform crochet by Rowie B, on Flickr"> freeform crochet piece.
Am going to enlarge it and make a funky bag I think.

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 03/05/2010 08:39

bollocks

Kaloki · 03/05/2010 12:01

That's really cool! Is crocheting hard?

OP posts:
Dingle · 03/05/2010 13:24

WOW, great colours and texture. Wish I could crochet!

Well, I've been a good girl again today and made another card....not quite sure about the next few days as I am back to work.

Here's the installment for DAY 2!

Kaloki · 03/05/2010 13:33

Dingle those are lovely! Do you sell them?

OP posts:
Dingle · 03/05/2010 13:45

Thank you!

Yes and no! Keep telling myself I will do a fundraiser for my D's school or the Down Syndrome Charity I am treasurer for...but confidence is not my strong point!LOL.

I get the occasional sale from friends and family though.

I just hope to find my mojo again!

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 03/05/2010 13:46

Ooh, that's pretty Dingle. I did get card/scrapbooking stuff but I don't have the patience/eye to make it all 'match'!

I taught myself to crochet last year. It's not that hard, I can do it fairly absentmidnedly now. That is Freeform crochet where you don't follow a pattern or anything and just do whatever you feel like, is huge fun.

Dingle · 03/05/2010 13:49

I am left handed and although I can knit, I hold one needle on my tummy. I have tried a couple of times in the past but just couldn't get to grips with even holding the crochet hook!

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 03/05/2010 13:54

I can't knit to save my life!

Kaloki · 04/05/2010 00:59

I'm hoping to learn to knit, looks damn confusing though!

As promised, here are two images. Not the two I intended, but nevermind.

Love Tallulah, the colours are striking!

To me, knitting is much easier than crochet as you only have 2 different stitches to learn. Once you have mastered those your off!

I am working a day behind really. This is the card I finsihed yesterday and once I have finsihed today's creativity I will blog and link that tomorrow.

LOL.. I am feeling quite pleased that I have done 3 days on the trot...hmmm 365 seems impossible!

Kaloki · 05/05/2010 00:39

Today's work - this is my first attmept at knitting - and you don't want to know how long it took me to do those 4 lines!

Dingle 365 is going to be a stretch.. going to give it my best shot though. Hopefully we'll have more people joining in as time goes by to keep us motivated.

Hi there - am 40 weeks pg today so I can't commit to joining the challenge but I am hugely 'crafty' and love all things creative so will be watching this thread keenly to see the fab things you are creating and hopefully I will contribute as and when I can.
Kaloki, you seem a whizz on graphics - some fab images - like you I want to learn to knit but haven't quite found the time to take it on yet.

Dingle - I absolutely love cardmaking and your cards are really beautiful - it would seem you have learnt a lot of the crafts involved and its so nice to see gorgeous cards that haven't been thrown together for a quick sale (seen some dreadful ones at craft fairs)

Jack - I'm in awe at your crochet flower on the bag - that's just such a clever idea!

Anyway, hoping to contribute soon and looking forward to your daily works of art.

Dingle · 05/05/2010 13:52

Kaloki, what are you knitting? Gorgeous colour!!! This challenge has really helped my mojo-thank you.

madcatsazz- Thank you for your kind comment. I have been making cards for about 8 yrs now, I started after my DD was born, she has Down Syndrome and I felt I needed a craft with quicker results than knitting gave me!

My crafting was my relaxation and I especially enjoy making personalised cards. I have tried the "very" odd craft fair, and it is very frustrating to see that the cards selling are those with a shop bought "handmade" embellishment and a peel off sticker on. I take hours and hours on a card but as with many crafters, it's done with love and care and not with profit in mind!

Anyway, waffle over with!! Here's my effort for DAY 4!!!

Kaloki · 05/05/2010 14:56

Dingle I'm making this. Which is, in theory at least, nice and easy.

Your cards are the kind that someone would treasure for a long time!

It's a fab first project Kaloki. Once you get going you will finish in no time.

I started this on Friday.

Kaloki · 05/05/2010 18:22

Ooh that's pretty! You must post photos when you are done!

Okay, so MOnday, Tuesday and Wednesday to catch up on! My phone is knackered so I can't uplaod pics.

Monday I made a crochet flower lanyward style necklace and Tuesday I just made loads of small flowers.

Today I made a small butterfly for a girl in the PTA coffee group and some bracelets for the other kids there, but they all took them home with them.
The girl is my DD1's age (4) but in a different class and always comes over to have a go at making some chains, pity neither of mine could give a stuff

WIll add pics when I can!

Dingle · 06/05/2010 08:14

I need to send a HUGE thank you for this thread, it has really helped my find my crafty mojo, which TBH has been missing for months and months. DAy 5, and although I haven't got that much to show YET, HERE is some crafting in the preparation stages! LOL

Kaloki · 06/05/2010 13:10

That was the aim of the challenge Dingle, I'd been struggling too. GLad it's helped you, it's been helping me too!

I forgot to upload stuff yesterday, but have a couple of projects to do today. Helping DP customise a t-shirt (using bleach and stencils) and making myself a t-shirt out of some funky zebra print material.

JackBauerIsZonerrific · 06/05/2010 18:14

I got sidetracked from making flowers and started a Stewie Griffin crochet doll today, but it is taking awhile, so might have to finish it tomorrow.
I did finish another hairclip. can I just make a hairclip a day?

Kaloki · 06/05/2010 20:59

"Stewie Griffin crochet doll today"

lol, hairclips count.. I got distracted by a new PC game does that count?

Hey craftypeeps,

Im loving this thread.. very inspiring!

I really miss my very hands on job so this is something Id like to get involved in.. time permitting! My DD is only 3 months old, so I have a feeling I may be a bit hit and miss but Im gonna give it a shot...

Dingle · 07/05/2010 12:19

Whoo hooo....day 6 and still going. I treated myself to a few new images to work with yesterday and I am working on the first at the moment...I would love your opinion of the images once I have completed something please.
