Do your kids have an after school art club?

We don't but I'd like to start one and I need some ideas. DD (6yo) gave me the idea as she said she'd like to go to one. I am quite arty and have been considering training as an art teacher but this is another plan which doesn't require training.

What do your kids make and what do they enjoy making (plus how old are they?)

How much do they pay per session?

Where are they usually based? DD's school doesn't offer anything at present but I have a feeling they won't want me to make any money out of it (they are big on the 'Church family' ethos and like a lot of volunteering...)

My DD (5) has been going to an after school art club since September and it is a huge success. The teacher gives the classes in her own home, in little groups of about 5 children aged 3 to 8. DD goes on Tuesdays from 5 to 6.15. The teacher is an illustrator and part-time primary school teacher, so ideally qualified. DD makes beautiful things and learns a lot. They have done paintings using lots of different techniques, she has made a crocodile dressing up costume, a calendar (so she can learn the date), Christmas decorations, a painted lantern...

Yes I am not sure of who much she pays as dp takes care of that kind of thing.

She is 8, she has made a scrapbook which she adored doing. She has been doing some life drawings. They also did some drawings/ paintings of their houses.

She also goes to a holiday club here which does some fabulous things, paper sculpture, wire sculpture, pottery and more traditional painting.

Ours is very over-subscribed so DC not in it & I can't say what they do -- but good luck! It's straight afterschool on a Tuesday, run by one of the TAs (?), until about 4pm, I think it's only Reception-Yr3 at the moment.

My dds (10, 8, 5) go to two sorts of after school art clubs. One is run (intermittently) by school, they pay £2 a term, which is the standard rate for school clubs.

The other is run by the after school club organisers and they pay £3.20 for an hour there. They do a wide range of art and craft activities, my dds like almost anything to do with art or craft that isn't too pink or girly. (i.e. they don't like making perfume or lip balm).

They have done so much it's hard to summarise, but includes papier mache, felt hand and finger puppets, christmas cards, wooden tree decorations, clay, aborigine-style dot painting. The dot-paintings were particularly nice, they did those over a few weeks, I liked that as they get lots of opportunity to do quick one-off crafts but it's nice to have something with more sustained effort.
