I can do basic stitches but I don't know how to follow a pattern. I'll pay you.

after Easter would be perfect!

Needle · 24/03/2010 21:27

Bessie- I'm in North London and would be more than happy to meet up and give you a few pointers, not wanting to usurp Miamla in any way. I've just taken left work for a lifetime of housewifery, so I've got plenty of time on my hands and knit most afternoons anyway.

Also, Miamla- if you get to the stage where you're pulling your hair out and want some help hemming- I'm a dressmaker. Even I delegated making my wedding dress- you have my respect!

Can I join if we start a knitting group?!

I know the gallery cafe but evenings are not too easy for me.

Shall we start a knitting group on 16 April, then? 10.30 in the museum of childhood cafe?

Miamla if you're still around. If you get blood on cloth, take a length of cotton (has to be cotton, not poly) put it in your mouth & use the saliva to dot it on the blood spot. The saliva counteracts the blood in someway. It has to be the saliva of the person whose blood it was! Or so I have always been told.

I used to make wedding dresses for a living, never told my brides that I occasionally spat on their dresses! Good luck.

TheLadyEvenstar · 29/03/2010 10:00

Anyone in South London who can help me??

Miamla · 01/04/2010 09:06

cowwatcher...damn! wish i'd seen your cunning tip before i'd cunningly covered up all of the blood drops with french knots (the fabric already had french knots all over it so it was just a case of adding a few more but my my did it take a while)... will def remember your tip for next tip though!

needle thank you so much for your kind offer but it was just lots of little fiddly things to do! I'm pg at the moment so it was the front sections/bodice that weren't quite done! almost there now though (bloody good job given that we're leaving tomorrow!)

ladyevenstar perhaps we could do a central london meetup in the summer in a park or something? assuming of course you don't fancy traipsing over our way before then!

bessie sounds good to me. is anyone else bring DC? i'm going to have a rather boistrous inquisitive toddler with me!

Bessie123 · 12/04/2010 11:44

Miamla sorry, only just saw your post.

I will also have a toddler with me. I could do this Friday at the museum, at 11.30... anyone?

I'm in TH and would love to be able to knit

Bessie123 · 19/04/2010 10:35

Miamla seems to be our best hope, Ghost, but I think she is selfishly getting married round about now, so we will have to wait for her to come back.

Stich London (formerly Stich N Bitch) are a great group that meet in London every 2 weeks.

They teach beginners for free and always meet in a lovely restaurant/cafe/pub that is quite central.

They are the group that did the Innocent Pot winter hats!

Bessie123 · 15/05/2010 01:13

Yes, they look great but it's not easy for me to get out early evenings

Ralphsmummy · 19/05/2010 16:18
