Afair you can get watercolour pads from The Works - not sure how much or how good the quality but it's usually cheaper in there than anywhere else.

May I ask why you want watercolour paper for the family?

Decent cartridge paper is fine for general use, and I like to keep the good stuff for myself! < stingey >

Have been reading the Soulemama blog and book, have decided we need to do her family drawing time thing to help the kids get more creative. Have realised they never see us drawing, painting etc, reading yes but arty stuff never.

She recommends using the good stuff and I know from past experience how difficult it is to paint on crap paper. Having said that I don't want to spend stupid money so thanks for the Works recommendation

We buy a massive roll of wallpaper lining paper from John Lewis for £5 and cut to size. This was recommended to me by an art teacher and we do it in the art class with her. She says it is perfect for watercolour paints. The other benefit is you can have a long long piece and do a whole family painting.
