Can anybody recommend some good quality children's coloured pencils?

You know ones that don't break and are quite colourful.

Currently debating between Caran D'ache(which I had as a child) or Faber Castell colour grip. Have FC lead pencils and quite impressed. Has anybody got the FC that you can add water to,are they better or worse than the regular colour grip?

TIA

Caran D'ache are good.

We have a Lyra Ferby set, and they are fab. Really lovely colours (colour pigment proportion is higher than most others apparently) and chunky, triangular shaped body - so great for kids. They have a big range of different types.

oddly enough, i find the pencils that lidl sell in their middle aisle to be excellent. triangular, stubby and full of pigment. bargain at £1.99.

The Faber Castell ones are good too and a bit less £ than the CD. The aqua ones are worth a go too.

I've given up with all the cheap alternatives now. You pay for what you get.

Yep - Lidl are very good.

At the pricier end of the range, the Derwent Artist pencils are very good. Amazon sell them and they seem to be cheaper than Caran d'Ache. eg

Stabilo ones called Woodys 3 in 1 are great. See here: www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Stabilo_Woody_Pencil.html

I got some after seeing them at my daughter's nursery. Nice and chunky, deep colours, can add water and use them like watercolours.

You've probably got some now though .

I have but think I've developed a bit of a pencil addiction.

So far I've bought a pack each of the Lidl ones for the 3 dc 6,6 and 5 which I'm saving for half term. Im also still trying to decide between Karen Dash and Faber Castell re a nice tin of special pencils to keep for high days and holidays.

Those Woody's look rather good too-hmmmmm.
