... am intrigued by them everytime I am in HobbyCraft. Do any of you use one - are they worth the money? Is it an expensive crafting habit to embark upon?

i personally don't have one but a friend does and she does use it quite alot, i am not as crafty as her so wouldn't buy one for that reason, but if you do craft alot i would say its a good investment

I've also seen them and been intrigued. What kind of stuff can you do with it? Is it all scrapbooking (not really my thing), or is it more versatile than that?

My mother has one and uses it for cardmaking. She uses it quite a lot.

I have a couple, as well as a Cricut (thanks to my Hubby as a surprise Christmas gift in 2008). I used to use the Sizzix all the time and now I use both. Yes, a bit expensive over here (I bought my first one in the States a few years before moving to the UK) but feel I got my money's worth for the amount I use them. The dies are a bit expensive sometimes but usually when they go on special they're usually on a really good offer. I've used mine for scrapbooking, card making, posters (for my Guide unit) and some other general craft type things.

Hope this helps.

i have one - i really like it and have made quite a lot of different things with it from cards to leather brooches - i have the big shot and mainly use the thick cut dies with it which can cut thicker materials
here's a card
and a brooch made using my sizzix machine.
they are pretty good fun and great for making crafts with the kids too - you can get bargain dies on eBay too :0)
