Where do you all go to buy the fabrics you need for crafts?

I am looking to pick your brains really - I have loads of fabrics originally designed for curtains/upholstery that I want to sell. There is a real mix of patterned and plain - most are remnants left over from jobs but some are fairly decent meterage. I have had a quick look on ebay ... I just wondered where else arts and crafty people go to buy such things? Anything that doesn't sell will go to the local school or children's play centre but I obviously want to sell where possible. I have considered a stall at a car boot sale but I think it needs to be somewhere more art specific. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

snickersnack ... excuse my craft ignorance but how big are fat quarters? Are you in London/Hertfordshire by any chance?

Ok, have looked ... have a little linen but certainly not enough for 5 pairs of curtains! I can take a photo of what I have and if you want to take a look just CAT me ... am about to pay my dues now!

Bodiddly - I just logged on arts and crafts to wonder if anyone had any small pieces of material they wanted to sell or get rid of!

I'm making a height chart with a local toddler group and my one is going to be 'Princess and the pea' so I need some small fabric pieces for the 20 duvets!!

They don't need to be large pieces 10x20cms would be perfect, they just need to be quite girlie as the height chart is for my DD's nursery!

I'd be happy to buy from you if you have some small swatches you wanted to sell!

I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction to buy!!

Mumsnet is great!!

Haribosmummy ... are you looking for all pinks then or a mix of colours? Plains and patterns?

Hi!

I don't think they all need to be pinks, but I suppose reasonably feminine for the majority - and I think it would look better with a mix, plains / patterns / checks / spots ...

bodiddly I don't have cat but would you mind emailing me a pic of the linen you have (and a price!) my email address is blottedcopybook @ gmail dot com

Oh - also a fat quarter is a quarter of a yard (fold the yard lengthways then widthways to have four boxes - each is a fat quarter)

ok am going to have to get organised about this ... need to take some photos and measure the pieces I have ... so I will come back to anyone that is interested!

bodiddly - I'm in London, but my parents live in East Herts. I wouldn't mind paying postage though...

bodiddly · 23/06/2009 15:06

snickersnack ... the fabrics are in London so if you want to come and take your pick you are more than welcome to. I am fairly central!
