looking for a sewing machine, help please!!!

hi all,
i am looking for a sewing machine:
-not very expensive
-automatic tension
-wont use it for embrodiery, will use it for general cloth repairing, adjusting trousers, may use it for very thin or for cotton fabric but as well as quilt repairing, jeans repairing,
-light weight
have searched everywhere but couldn't find anything.
advices will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried John Lewis? I got mine from there, was about £100 and is perfect for all the things you mentioned. If you go in-store you can have a chat with the sales people and they should be able to recommend you something which is also quite helpful.

Seem to remember there being another thread about sewing machines quite recently so you might want to do a search?

If your budget would stretch to it have a look at this one?? I wouldn't personally go for a mini-machine, not versatile enough, haven't tried one myself though, have you tried one instore?? Also, by the way all of JL own machines are made by Janome, in store they may have diff models to those online. Good luck.
