Possibly with cardboard? That you wrapped the wool round?

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?!

Yes!!!! Two discs of cardboard, diameter of desired pom-pom. Start winding wool around till you can get no more in. Then cut wool at edges and tie secruely in between cardboard dics to secure. Remove discs and gasp in awe....

yes

cut out two big circles in cardboard.
cut a small hole in the middle of each.
hold them together and start wrapping the yarn round the cardboard.
keep going until it's hard to get the yarn to go through the hole in the middle.
here's the tricky bit: cut along the yarn at the outer cardboard edges
take another piece of yarn and slide it between the two pieces of cardboard and tie tightly
remove cardboard.

hope that makes sense!

Yup.

Make 2 donut shaped carboard rings.
Put them back to back
Wrap wool around them from inside the ring to outside.
Go all the way round until there is no hole left.
Carefully cut the strands of wool ont the outside of the ring.
Carefully (parially) seperate the 2 cardboard disks. Wrap wool around the circle and tie a tight knot to secure.
Cut away teh cardboard completely and viola.

I think you need pictures...I will google

needless to say, the more wool you wind round the thicker and bouncier the pompom.

SlightlyMadScotland · 05/03/2009 14:36

Yeah I think that is a pretty feeble one in teh link
