biglips · 29/08/2005 18:37

very impressed JM

MrsEffervescent · 29/08/2005 21:59

i'm just attempting to put a card in the gallery..... probably doing it all wrong...but hey! that's me all over!

It's my 1st attempt at making a card...joint venture with my mum who is the 'teddy maker'

Was planning to sell on eBay...but wondered whether i'd be able to use this gallery????

it's basically a pram toy which is velcroed into the card...

i got in a right mess with my gluegun...1st time using a gluegun!!!! (i ended up with loads of stringy bits of glue all over ME!!!!

MrsEffervescent · 29/08/2005 22:04

well...it's in the gallery here

champs · 30/08/2005 00:40

says file is Inaccessible

Avalon · 30/08/2005 01:23

Can't access the gallery.

jayzmummy · 30/08/2005 01:30

I think possibly the problem is that you have to become a member to upload your photos. Its not a problem at all for anyone to request to join the group and post up their photographs of the cards they have made.

Mrs Eff....just apply to join the group and the moderators will authorise your membership.

HTH.

OP posts:
MrsEffervescent · 30/08/2005 13:25

ok...how i managed to do all i did WITHOUT joining I just can only wonder!!!! (i somehow 'parasited' someone called 'cardgazer'.....even got someones email address linked to me....!!!)

But...now i have registered properly...and am waiting confirmation!!!!

Meanwhile i have removed the photo from the place i had posted it.... i will start again when i am 'official'!!!!

I'm very nervous what you will think of my card...as it's totally different from any of your cards....i will also put pictures of the hand knitted bears that my mum makes...they are truly gorgeous.....we've sold many on ebay...but it costs so much when you have to pay the fees etc...

AuntyQuated · 30/08/2005 14:57

HELLO ALL

MrsEf..i have authorised it now so you should eb abale to upload it.

MrsEffervescent · 30/08/2005 17:42

jayzmummy · 30/08/2005 17:53

Cute card Mrs F....now lets see some more
Might be a good idea to name your file after your user name so that viewers know who you are

Whizzz · 30/08/2005 20:50

I like it - very cute !

I've added 2 of my latest forrays into jewellery cards. Any comments gratefully recieved!
What would you pay for them ??

All New - Whizzz All new

jayzmummy · 30/08/2005 21:16

Whizz....they are very similar to the cards I make....Im sure you may have seen the ones I make whilst you were on holiday in Cornwall....I supply 5 shops down there with my jewellery cards.

I would charge £5 at least for them.....they are very pretty.

OP posts:
Whizzz · 30/08/2005 21:18

I did see some in Cornwall JM !
Trying to remember where though !

Saw some in Charlestown I think which caught my eye. How do you get to supply shops though ?

My problem is that I love making the cards but haven't got time to actively try & sell them.

jayzmummy · 30/08/2005 21:24

I sent a sample to each of the stores and they all gave me orders.
Try local shops and see if they will take them from you for sale or return.
You can also try boutiques, hairdressers etc.
How about taking some into your LO's school and asking if you can leave them in the staff room for the teachers to have a look at. Ive done this before and now get a steady stream of orders from the teachers.

mum took her 'bears' to a local habadashery/knitting yarn shop- and she had an arrangement that she paid the owner only 10% of the selling price! Also worked out well for mum as she got special orders. sometimes the owner gave her yarn (or sold it to her very cheaply)- so mum has a huge stock of yarn now!!!
(the shop closed recently howver as the owner retired!!!)

kiwibelle · 31/08/2005 16:30

jayzmummy - I am surprised!! You sell your cards to the public and supply them to (atleast) five stores yet, on another thread, you mentioned that you don't have the confidence to enter them in comps. You need to put your head up high . I loved your jewellery which I have just had a look at on your site. You are very talented (and I am envious ).

jayzmummy · 31/08/2005 17:07

Selling to Joe Public is easy...they dont know me!! Its a bit different when you are sending your cards off to the experts!!
DH thinks I am mad for not sending any of my cards into the recent competition. To think that thousand were sent in and Layla made it to the top 100 makes me think I have no chance. I love all of Laylas designs and think they are so much nicer than my cards....I think I need to have a quiet word with myslf and be a lot more confident!

kiwibelle · 31/08/2005 17:57

hmmmm... is there any possibility of someone purchasing one of these "world famous on mumsnet" cards and entering them on her behalf?????

jayzmummy · 31/08/2005 18:27

Bu**er off!!!!!!!

Ive promised DH I will send a couple of cards of to a mag in the near future.....just not sure which cards or which mag is best.

Layla....what do you reckon???

OP posts:
layla · 31/08/2005 22:14

That's the spirit Jayzmummy,I've got just the competition for you! There's one going on now in either card making and papercraft mag or quick cards. It's the same competition as they are sister magazines and it's I think it's card designer of the year.Loads of lovely prizes and you can enter as many as you like. There are lots of categories but the catch is you must use at least one product from the category you are entering but I've found I've got quite a bit of making memories stuff already so it wasn't hard to knock up a couple of cards for that category. You've got plenty of time as the closing date is sept 27th.

How does that sound?Go for it.

I was blushing at your compliments on my cards. But really I don't think they are better than yours no way.

We must get AQ entering some now as well.

jayzmummy · 01/09/2005 01:09

Ok....I give in I'll send one off

Ive just dug out my copy of Quick Cards and had a very quick read through the different categories.
Ive got some lovely papers here from HOTP so I'll get me thinking cap on and have a go!!!!
Ummmm but the Sizzix comp looks a good one.....oh no what have you started!!!

AQ, Dingle, Dior, Yorkie, Whizz, Peachy.....you've got to have a go to!!!!

OP posts:
kiwibelle · 01/09/2005 13:06

good on you JM.... go on girls - you all have to enter! I can't wait to see / hear that one of you is designer of the year. Love the thinking cap JM .
