Does anyone know where I can get some good patterns? Dd very into her knits, and have seen some beautiful shop bought stuff in Junior magazine, but want to make some as opposed to spending £150 on a jumper! I.e. retro 70's dungaree dresses with apples on etc.

If you want retro stuff, then go to charity shops. Visit a few and explain what you're looking for. It may not be the sort of stuff they put out in the shop, but they might be willing to keep stuff back for you if they get it in.

I remember some amazing old Phildar patterns my mother knitted me - a jumper with camels walking across it springs to mind!

Alternatively, I know that several mumsnetters swear by websites called Ravelry and Knitty.

I was knitting in the 70s so may have some patterns you like. Difficult to know what though.
I can't remember dungarees with apples and I have more baby stuff than 5yo, because my daughter was out of knitted stuff by the time she was 5 and that was 1987 anyway.
I'll have a look later, if you like.
And yes, do join Ravelry, there is loads of stuff there. It only takes a couple of days at the moment.

Oh you lovelies! Haven't been on for a few days, sorry-have been making curtains! (Have just worked out how to use my inherited sewing machine and am SO excited!!) Revelry here I come!

It's Ravelry , actually, with an A, rather than an E, in case you can't find it.
Just think what we might get up to if it WAS Revelry
