there are quite a few sites, etsy is american based but works globally, dwanda is european and is seen as an up and coming etsy rival, folksy is uk based and only just starting out.

it's really difficult to say whether or not your friend will sell anything, all of these site are merely an outlet, marketing is down to the seller themselves. it isn't just a case of opening a shop and sales will start happening, particularly with etsy, etsy is huge, you very quickly get lost in amongst the other sellers. if she goes for etsy, i suggest she search through their forums for tips and advice, search out others who's work is similar, work out a pricing strategy etc, think about how she is going to advertise the fact that she's selling online.

hope all that helps and i wish her luck with it all

You are right everything there is gorgeous. I am talking of Folksy though, which is an equivalent in the UK, but it is the same. I am selling there my lovely handmade greeting cards.
