I'm knitting some baby legwarmers: can you help?

I've got some leftover wool and want to try making some legwarmers.

I am going to do a couple of cm of rib, then stocking stitch, then rib at the top.

The wool is dk; how many stitiches do you think I need to cast on? DD is 3 mths.

make sure there's enough wool left for a matching sweat band

Fame costs.
Right here's where you start paying.

have you got enough for these?

Knit a swatch and work out how many stitches you get to the inch. Then measure your DD's leg and multiply up.
So, if you get 10 sts to the inch and DD's leg is 3", you'll need to cast on 30sts. I've pulled all those numbers out of the air, by the way, so don't rely on them!
HTH.

do allow for negative ease aka stretch

thanks, with some trial and error I have decided on 30 stitches on 3 3/4 mm needles. I guess I can always thread with some elastic if they give too much.

Make sure you do the rib on smaller needles - I made some similar leg warmers and didn't. They keep on falling down!
