MOTHER'S DAY CARDS FOR PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

I have been voluntered to design a card for parent and toddler group in a couple of weeks time. Need something simple for the little ones to make.

I will take a browse on the internet too but was hoping that some of you may have some nice ideas or may have come across some good ideas through your kids schools/pres-schools/toddler groups.

How about handprints of the child on a card with this verse inside.....

There used to be so many
of my fingerprints to see
on furniture and walls and things
from sticky grubby me

but if you stop and think awhile
you'll see im growing fast
Those little hand-prints disappear
you cant bring back whats past

So heres a small reminder
To keep not throw away
of tiny hands and how they looked
to make you smile someday

I have still got my 11 year old's card which we made when I ran the toddler group when he was 2!!!!!!

Thanks so much JM. DD has done this at playschool on a calendar which we had for christmas. It's so sweet. This P&T group is linked to the playschool so I expect some of the parents may have seen it before.

how about flower pots I made this one year when I did SunSch

if you pre cut the bits the little uns can glue them on.
green card, yellow card,orange card, pink card, brown/red card

you need to cut out green strips (about 10cms long and about 2cms wide)
cut out flower heads from the yellow, orange and pink card.
cut flower pot shapes out of brown/red card ( two for each card.
cut a flap 5cm by 5cm for the back of each card. fold a 1cm fold in the flap.

to make the cards:
stick flower heads to the strips, about three or four for each card.
stick strips to one of the flower pot shapes different lengths look nice.
stick other flower pot shape to other side, to cover strips.
stick flap on back card using fold. this will make the card stand up.

you could also make a flower label or small folded card to put happy mothers day on it.

I hope I explained it properly!! It is easier to do it than to tell how to do it. Also I didn't use accurate measurements when I did it I just done it by eye so I tried to set measurements for you, please try one card first as a trial run before you cut all the bits out so you can change measurements if need be.

Toddlers tomorrow (Weds) and doing the craft, totally forgot about Mothers Day...
Was going to do icing biscuits with them but no good as they can?t resist eating them and won?t make it home.
We used a really similar rhyme and handprint idea last year or would have used that idea.
I love the flowerpot but think it a bit old for toddlers, great for playgroup but not 2-3yrs (at least not our bunch).
Any ideas please or will get into mega trouble if any of the mums work out I am winging it

good idea dior. toddlers will be able to this and they love glitter.

how many todlers are there? do you have a polaroid camera? you could take pics of kids and put them on a photo card and get them to decorate a frame.
or make a frame with bits and pieces.
or a mum collage.
or get them to draw a pic of their mums and cut it out and stick to front of card.
or if you did want to do the iced biscuit idea you could get them to make them and then wrap them in cellophane/ bags before they munch them and let them ice one for themselves to eat. you can even get them to decorate a box/bag to put mums biccies in.
