Hand dyed yarn recommendations

DS3 has asked me to make him a scarf for Christmas, quite easy you may think but he is a fashion student with very particular tastes and wants one the colour of mould! ie. Blotchy black, grey, green, and blue.
can anyone recommend a variegated yarn brand, preferably hand dyed at least 75% wool that would have a nice effect, not too stripey, if I knit an elongated “ Sophie” style garter stitch scarf.
I’ve seen some nice skeins but they never show knitted swatches and the last time I knitted with variegated yarn was a snake scarf also for DS when he was 4!

I have knitted a few items with yarn from Felt Fusion - I bought it at Yarndale. There may be a colourway here that meets your requirements or they offer a dye to order service.
