Hi all! I'm looking for recommendations for tried-and-true knitting patterns for a baby cardigan please, ideally DK weight. Something classic and unisex (lots of new nieces and nephews this year!). But nothing too tricky (no cables or complex lace). tia!

My go-to baby cardigan is "Norwegian Fir" from Ravelry. It's knitted top down and the increases are incorporated into the lace pattern. The main stitch used is garter stitch and it only needs one button.

I've made the child and adult version of Diane Soucy's top down jacket several times (there's a different pattern for each age group).

They're quick, easy, comfortable to wear and there's very little sewing needed as they're knit as one piece. She has baby versions of the pattern in both DK and aran wool.

They're on Ravelry here DK and here Aran

The bonus with ravelry is that you can look at projects along the top of the page to see images of the finished pattern people have made, as well as comments they might have made on the pattern.

# 982 Babies Neck Down Cardigan pattern by Diane Soucy

That's lovely!

Thank you! This is perfect!

Thank you both.

@FiddleFigs My one tip would be to knit the sleeves first when you divide after you finish the yoke - I find the first few rows are tight if you do them after the body.
