Can I sew a hoop into the hem of a costume??

Can I use garden wire or something to sew a hoop into the bottom of a Queen of Hearts costume!? I know I can buy a proper dress hoop but I’m really tight 😂

It would be too heavy and affect the drape. Try a length of boning or similar, do you have a local scrap store?

I think you need something with a lot of spring (tensile strength maybe) as you don't want your hoop squashing then staying squashed. I strongly suspect this is one of those things where buying the kit made for the job will be superior.

Ah dammit - I’ll see if I can find a 2nd hand hoop
