Hi, I wondered if anyone could give me an estimate for how much fabric I’d need for a chair like this please?

I reckon 3m would be enough but i would probably get an extra meter just incase. Thats per chair so 6m will be plenty for both because you will have more wiggle room wirh the extra fabric.

Thanks so much @Geneticsbunny it’s for an upholstery course I’m starting - do you know if this would be a good first project?

I did a City&Guilds curtain making course in the late 90s. The teacher taught us how to measire and pattern match before we started any projects. I'm not sire anyone can advise on the internet. Is there a visible, fabric covered back for example. Meausrements of the chairs, width of fabric and length of pattern match?

Yep. Good pont. If the fabric has an unusual pattern you will need to add extra for pattern matching. I forgot that! Obviously measuring first would be better.

Thanks for your help, I’m starting an upholstery course on Monday, but not picking chair up until Saturday as the chair I was going to get wasn’t okay, but I’d already bought some fabric, think I need to get some more, but that’s no problem. Really looking forward to the course!

At the upholstery classes I attend the teacher always measures up the material and gives advice on it - might be an idea to wait. Material is expensive and you don’t want to get too much (or worse, not enough). Have fun.
