Drawing journals ?

I’m not sure where to find one of these, but I’m after a journal with one lined page for writing and one blank page for drawing. Ideally, it would have high-quality paper so I can use watercolour pencils, although I mainly use fine liners for black-and-white illustrations. I’m trying to get back into a daily illustration habit (I’ve always been very good at the writing part). I would quite like it all in one good-quality book, the idea being that the writing and illustration go together.

I’ll have a look at the second one. I did actually try the first, but the ink tends to bleed through, especially with fineliner drawings when you’re layering lines, and it’s definitely not great for watercolour. I’m really after more of an artist’s sketchbook/journal hybrid. I did an art foundation year after school and I’m so keen to build my skills back up again. I still sketch quite a lot for design boards for work, but my fine art feels a bit rusty these days.

Ah yes I wonder if you would be best going in to an art shop so you can feel the paper.

Sadly no luck in our local art shop, we live rurally so it’s all a bit limited. Otherwise will see if I can find something when next in town.

I always used pink elephant for exactly this, I haven’t bought any for a while as I have been mural painting for a wile instead. The paper is nice and thick, and spiral, binding means you can dispense with your mistakes!

I’m don’t suppose you have a link @Allthegoodnamesarechosen when google I just get notebooks with pink elephants so am clearly searching for the wrong thing! Thank you so much for your help.

Seawhite of Brighton? https://www.seawhite.co.uk/Catalogue/SKETCHBOOKS-PADS/Seawhite-Casebound-Sketchbooks/Seawhite-Travel-Journals/Seawhite-Alternate-LinedPlain-Travel-Journals

I’ve only used their watercolour travel journals (for fineliner/watercolour stuff) so I don’t know if these would be any good for you.

Pink Pig might have something - we used to use their A3 cartridge paper books on a college course and they were quite good but I don’t know if they do lines.
