For sewists old and new. Join the fun, let us know what you're working on.
I apologise for not having been around at all. I've been away all footloose and fancy free but now i'm back and have NO NEED TO BUY NEW FABRIC. I must use what I have.

I have two A1 mats - about 60 by 90. They stash just nicely under my larder cupboard.

Brefugee · 13/03/2026 09:44

I am in the lucky position of having a sewing room with a big table and huge cutting mat. I cut on there but i haven't been making (m)any clothes lately. It is a dining table so slightly too low but i am investigating getting risers for it.

But in the spirit of spring = new starts i think i will commit to making one item of clothing this year. Either a skirt (not elasticated waist, a proper one with a zip/closure of some kind) or a pair of loose trousers (probably elasticated) from light fabric to wear as a summer version of sweatpants (which i apparently now live in)

Looked on Amazon at A0 cutting mats. They were around £80. Googled and it brought up B&Q, which I’d never thought to look at. £37.99 with free delivery! It has already been dispatched 😀

No dedicated sewing room atm. I use two A1 mats on my dining table. They are stashed under my sofa. Only takes a minute to whip them out.

I have been working on the Mimi G cape - S9893. Really enjoyed the make, learnt a lot but changed the buttons for snaps because 13 was too many. Not sure what project to do next. Spring has sprung, so maybe a blouse with statement sleeves.

Bugger. Just had notification that my Knighton box is coming today. On a Saturday. With everyone home. It was due Monday so I had a chance to sleathily integrate it into my stash. Oh well.

Nice pattern for slim fit trousers in Simply Sewing this month. I was all set to put it high on the project list until I noticed the back zip. I don’t like zips anyway but a zip at the back of trousers is the worst so it’ll have to wait until I can be arsed to design a fly front. Which is probably never

The box arrived in a moment when I was alone so it’s unpacked, sorted and stashed in relative peace and quiet.

Lots of nice stuff in this one. Some long lengths of printed jersey, some plain soft Lycra and other bits and pieces including some gorgeous stretch lace in black. A few duds but only two pieces have gone straight to the rag bag. The bigger pile is the keepers, the other has the ones I’m not sure I’ll use.

The 3m of sweater knit in dark grey/black has made it a worthwhile purchase on its own
