so I’ve started knitting this baby overall romper thingy, however I’ve got to row 16 and I’m confused on the next part of the pattern

if anyone is able to word it so that I might understand id be appreciative

i think im confused because row 1 would have less stitches to knit than row 16 as I’ve had to increase stitches as part of leg shaping and pattern

Row 16 does have more stitches than row 1 so that is correct.

Are you confused about the 'keeping pattern correct' phrase? If so, all it probably* (almost certainly) means is that the increased stitches are purled on odd rows and are knitted on even rows, so that the knit/purl pattern continues evenly as your work grows.

*Probably--we'd need to see the picture to be 100% certain.

OP, is there a picture on the pattern? I see there are cables, it looks like any increases will remain stockinette, but depending on how many increases, another cable may need to be added... that's what keeping in pattern means.

Your cables are over 8 stitches, with purl stitches on each side. As you increase, if you add enough that another purl section needs to be added, those increased stitches should be purled.
