Hello. Desperately looking for some help to understand a knitting instruction. I’m making a sweater on circular needles from the hem up, knitted straight now I’ve got up to the point where the arms will eventually be added in. There is one marker, that I’ve moved up from the very first row since joining in the round.

The instructions says: “Place altogether (XS) 7 sts as evenly spread around the marker on a stitch holder as possible”

I have no clue what to do with this! It is a translated pattern so possibly just not clear in English. I’d be very grateful for your ideas! Thanks.

It doesn't make much sense. How are the sleeves added? Normally you cast off a few STS or leave them on a holder for the underarm. About 10 though, I'm not sure about 7.

Have you a link to the pattern, it might make sense in context?

Does the pattern then say knit [half the number of stitches in the round] and then give the same instruction for 7 stitches on a stitch holder, then knit the rest of the stitches?

if so, I’d think there had been a slight glitch in translation, and @NotMeNoNo is right - it’s asking you to cast on 7 stitches onto a stitch holder for the underarm.

Thanks - relieved I’m not just being totally stupid! I Google translated the instruction from the original and it came up with this: Place a total of (XS)7 (S)8 (M)10 (L)11 (XL)12 (XXL)13 stitches from either side of the beginning of a round on a thread or stitch holder
so I think @NotMeNoNo is probably right. Thank you so much all.
