Hi, I'm doing a dog jacket. I have to increase 1 sts each end at one point then I get stuck. It says...... ..until there are 46 sts, then in foll 18th row/s until there are 56 sts. Do I increase one each end from the 18th row onwards until I have 56 sts?

It means in following 18th row, 36th row, 54th row, etc

Agree with Move 22.

If you were making size 1, you would cast on 16 stitches, inc 1 stitch each end on row 5, 8 and 16, at which point you will have 22 as required. Then inc 1 at each end of the subsequent 10th, 20th and 30th rows i,e, rows 26, 36 and 46 (if counting from the start of the pattern), after which you will have 28 stitches as required.
