Sewing, bags, toys etc (not clothes)

I love the thread on sewing clothes (but I don’t sew clothes - it’s just not my thing).

I sew a lot of bags, fabric pots, teddies, tablecloth play houses, zippy pouches, table runners, Christmas decorations, bunting etc.

I’ve been sewing avidly for about eight years now since I retired, mostly self taught following YouTube video’s, books, and the odd course.

my current favourites are Beth Studley patterns and fabric and Natasha Makes on Facebook.

I’m always on the lookout for inspirational designers and their patterns, online courses etc and would love to share this with others with a similar interest.

I love a bit of dashwood quilting or mackower advent calendars.. notnquite sewing but Japanese folding for Christmas gifts is a lot of fun.

Always worth a look in the charity shops as a lot of older books there with great ideas that have fallen out of style and very in depth about machine basics e.g. why some machine throatnolates differ to others. Great background reading.

The Japanese folding sounds fun I will go and investigate.

I too like the charity shops for crafting books and sometimes clothes to chop up. I got a fab leather jacket for a £1 last year as it had a seam that needed mending and I cut it up for the leather and made a bag, I think if I patchwork together what’s left I may get another bag out of it too, failing that I will make zippy pouch coin purses and cables tidies to go in DS’s stocking this Christmas.
