I’ve tried to learn how to knit before and it didn’t go very well. Can you recommend any YouTube videos? Or any ‘knitting for dummies’ sites?

Try crochet. My Nanny was adament you can only do one or the other. 😁

Funnily enough there is a book called Knitting for Dummies, and I found it very useful as a starting point when I was first trying to re-learn as an adult.

For videos, VeryPink has a good playlist of slow motion techniques:

And also a tutorial to make a dishcloth, which is a great place to start:

I'm sorry to say your Nsnny was wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

youtube. Watch a few and see who you click with!!

I learnt to crochet that way (play/rewind/play/rewind.....)

best of luck! It's really not tricky to do basic knitting once you get going 😊

I’ve tried that as well, it was even more of a disaster 🤨.

I’d like to eventually do the Winwick Mum socks.

Oh I'm glad to see this - I was going to give her series a go. I'm just trying to finish off a quilt and then I want to start to learn to knit properly.

OP I learned the basics as a child and can just about turn out scarves and on one notable occasion an actual beret. I have basically quilted everyone I know so I need a new textile hobby. We should have a support thread!
