Looking for suggestions for a non wool blend, or acrylic or cotton or bamboo. I’ve no idea as not a knitter or crocheter! It’s for a baby blanket, so cost not an issue, just a luxury/good recommendation. Will buy a few (?) balls and then get more once know colours/patterns. Thanks!
oh it for a crocheter I think

King Cole bamboo cotton would be my first thought.
Or my go to is stylecraft DK acrylic - soft, loads of shades, cheap. You could get a blanket pack on wool warehouse

Stylecraft DK has gone down in quality, it pills and goes thin in parts.

This is lovely for baby acrylic

Put a bounce in your step and smile on your face with James C Brett Happiness! Made from 100% Everfresh acrylic that features antimicrobial activity and odour control, this yarn requires fewer washes than most, meaning you can save water and keep your cosy handmade items clean and fresh. Available in a range of soft pastel shades that are perfect for baby, Happiness DK has a gentle sheen to every silky strand, so you know it will be kind to sensitive skin. Machine washable and easy to knit with, Happiness DK is the ideal choice for a go-to baby yarn - a brand new bundle of joy!

A relative knitted some beautiful baby clothes and blankets for my DC with Sirdar Baby Bamboo DK. I've since used it and it's lovely to knit with too.

I've been getting it from hobbycraft recently, usually which ever is on 3 for 2. At the moment it's the women's institute blend at £3 for 100 grams but sometimes they have their own brand 'knitcraft' on the same offer and I like the colours better.

We Are Knitters (WAK) do gorgeous silky Pima Cotton. There are several baby blankets kit options (choose your colours and then you get the yarn and the pattern and even the needles if you need them with plenty of helpful how-to video guides available for newer knitters)
