Does anyone know what's happened to Quiltmania magazine?

There's a post on Instagram to say they've shut down today but doesn't say why and the website is down.

I’ve been asking the same question. There has been no communication (yet) to subscribers. The Instagram post had lots of replies from subscribers who had just renewed their subscription- sometimes to all three magazines. Thankfully I only subscribe to one and didn’t have too long left on this year’s subscription. Subscribers are supposed to be able to download the final issue but as the website isn’t working that’s not possible. The announcement came as quite a shock to me as I’ve always considered Quiltmania to be the best of all the quilting magazines and they also publish fabulous quilting books. I shall really miss it. If you hear anything about what has happened and why, I would be very keen to know more.

Update: Issue 160 is now available to download from the website and the editorial says a little more about why they are closing.

It is a huge shame, that perhaps could have been managed a bit better. When Pom Pom closed down there was a lot more information about when the last issue would be and how it would affect subscribers. She must have had some sort of crunch situation that forced the closure before it was expected.

Fortunately I don't have a subscription at the moment, I used to get Quiltmania and Simply Moderne but I tend to swap my subscriptions around to try different magazines so I'm currently getting Make Modern and American Patchwork & Quilting.

This is so disappointing. I recently renewed my subscriptions to Quiltmania and Simply Moderne magazines. These were the only magazines where we could see truly original quilts.

I wonder if she will sell her back catalogue in future. I would be very interested in buying all of Simply Moderne in digital format if it was priced well, and it could be a reasonable earner for her without much input needed.

I didn't realise Pom Pom has also closed down!

Yes, that was a while ago, maybe late last year. I was less affected by that because I'm not much of a knitter anymore so the only issue that I bought from them was a crochet focussed one. So they had my details because of that one purchase and they gave a few months notice and had a plan for how to get hold of back issues etc.
