What crafty ideas are you doing with your pre-schoolers during the hols???

Mine are 3 and 4 we're doing Easter nests(yawn)this afternoon to clear the choc mountain then doing space pictures on black card.

Might cut out food pics and stick onto plates later this week and will have to brave the paints and make a batch of playdough then thats it.

As it's going to be 3 looooong weeks with my 3 under 5 any help will be gratefully received. If you're really whizzy play activities too- we'll be doing dolls hspitals with loo roll bandages and errrr that's it so far!!!!!

make rockets - they love that - and then you can make space people too, and aliens...etc etc etc you catch my drift am sure...lots of cardboard tubes from inside kitchen towels, toilet rolls etc...also, we do "portraits" of each other in 3d onto toilet rool holders, using fabric scraps as clothing, bits of wool as hair etc... they look ridiculous but are fun to make

buy a huge rool of paper (think ikea) an dget them to lie on it and trace around them, they then get to fill it all in with collage, pens, crayons, paint if you are brave etc

that said...I am taking mine to the beach in France although am sure some felt tips will make it into bag

what's this rool thing? Obviously a must have for crafting with the under fives these days

icing pens and digestive biscuits

Threading pasta necklaces

Make jam sandwiches, cut them with biscuit cutters and eat

Cut up ELC catalogue and do a favourite toys collage

Make play dough

VV it's normandy, so not quite as glam as I make out, and I bet we'll wish we were at home with full crafting supplies when the grey clouds rool in

oh rool i have a mahoosive ROOL of paper from ikea!!!!!

and did you know that nowadays you have to microwave loo-rools[ha ha] before crafting with them . . . .good grief!

baking banana muffins
jelly bean finger print people
play dough
junk robot collages
colour tablets in the bath... he will play for hours with a plastic tea set in the bath, with a couple of bath tablets to colour the water in diffrent containers (old shampoo bottles)

then have various things to vaguly attmept to keep DS busy on 10 hour flight to San Francisco. probably not nearly enough.

you dip your fingers into poster paint then put fingerprints all over the paper. let it dry then do stickfigure arms and legs.. I'll take a picture later if you like... they look really cute and its really easy to do..

MilaMae- I will take a picture in the morning for you when the light is better... I got busy making muffins and some bracelets and obviusly writting about it..

have just blogged DS' Jelly Bean People though i think they can be fingerprint people too, DS just says they are jelly beans.

Mila- yes i do necklaces, I jsuthaven't made as many.. and as we go away on holiday on sunday I can't buy any more beads.. so just making a few bracelets with what I have at hand... if you look on the left hand side of my blog there is a bit that says "my Recipes" which lists all the ones I have blogged...

Not crafty but if you want 5 minutes peace let them play on 'tux paint'. It is a free interactive art and design programme from 3 yrs up that you can download-just type in tux paint on google. My kids love it
