End entry Roman Blind tape. How to neaten the ends!

I'm making a Roman Blind using end entry tape as I could not find any top entry tape anywhere! I can't work out how you are supposed to neaten the ends where the rods go in while stilll allowing the rods to go in iyswim. I'm contemplating cutting it off flush and buttonholing over the raw edge and then cutting a slot in it toallow the rods to enter, but was wondering if anyone else had a better idea please?

Sew the tapes on leaving them a few centimetres wider than the blind at each edge ie the tapes will stick out on each edge. Double fold one edge of the tape back on itself behind the blind and handstitch it to itself at the top. Then insert the rod at the other end, then fold this end of the tape back on itself and handstitch as before. The rod will now be enclosed in the tape and won't dislodge at either end.

Like this. It should be handstitched at the top and bottom rather than just the top as I said above.

Thank you Getwhatyouwant. So, if you later need to take the rods out, you have to unpick one end, is that right? If so, I much prefer the top entry tape!
Thanks ever so much for your help!

Yes you'd have to unpick one end to take the rods out. I've never heard of top entry tape!

It's much better - you can neaten both ends of the tape before applying it and insert your rods from any point. The nearest one I've found this time is this one https://www.empressmills.co.uk/roman-blind-tape but it's a wider one than I wanted. Thanks again for your help.

1 Inch Roman Blind Tape

A slightly wider Roman Blind tape suitable for use with wooden dowels. Continuous slotted pockets for easy insertion and removal of roman blind rods. Designed to fit 6-9mm roman blind rods, ideal for wooden dowel rods.
