i am still not 100% happy with the colours on my blog, i like the red lettering, but am still flirting with going green in the background.

so, as inspiration, which blogs layout and colour schemes do you like, and think work well?

Just been on your blog. The background colour is actually one of my faves!! I'm pleased the owls are a big part of the design. Long live the Owls!!!
I love Meridian and Gingermonkey's blogs. I'm fairly new to looking at blogs so I'm no use really. sorry.

Miaou · 28/03/2008 13:02

Ha LK, I was looking at your blog this morning too (ie before you posted this) and thinking how well that background colour works - it's soft, warm, and a great contrast to all the bright colours on your pics. And I've not seen anyone else with that colour either!

I'm v. unhappy with the look of my blog - it needs more graphics etc. However I need dh to hold my hand whilst I sort it and he is poorly right now. .

Will have a think about which blogs I like the look of, but tbh yours is pretty much top of the tree in my book anyway.

lucykate · 28/03/2008 13:06

thank you , i wasn't fishing for compliments you know

my problem is i'm so indecisive sometimes, i'm using the blog as a way to trial a brand identity before moving away from blogging and towards a more specific web site of my own.

I love the design for the upcoming etsy shop by the way. You're too clever you

dizzyday07 · 28/03/2008 13:16

I don't normally like green as a colour but yours is nice and muted and I love how you have the "stitched" lines round your entries as a contrast.

You need to pick a colour/theme that you love and are happy to keep as rebranding afterwards could be expensive

lucykate · 28/03/2008 13:22

the dashed line was really easy to add, i got all the info on how to do it from that blogger buster website, it was just a case of identifying the border part of the html code and changing the word solid to dashed or dotted, you can then alter the thickness/colour of it too

sounds complicated, but it's not, you just need to get your head round the fact that all it is, is a page, split up into a main body, header, and sidebar section and it's just built up from there.

i love that sage green background and it looks good with the red text

i can't even get my head 'round the html stuff i don't have the patience

Gingermonkey · 28/03/2008 14:31

I am liking the look of yours at the minute. I think the muted shades suit you (and they do in RL, too! )

Off the top of my head I like the look of Syko's, wee wonderfuls moonstitches, elsie marley, hurrah, Udder. I like them when they are very simple and not too much going on.

I like your blog LK... but i think the title logo should POP a bit more... I like the idea of sage green and a dash of red.. a bit like that adorable little butterfly a post back on your blog... I think the image used should be a bit clearer and not so faded... becuse they are so cute and identifiable you want them to be instantly recognizable.. so that you look at it and go hay thats LK's blog/brand right from the start...

design wise one of my favourite blogs in the black apple one... becuse it stands out so.. and sticks in you mind.. or at least in mine...

not sure if i'm any help

lucykate · 28/03/2008 15:10

gm, i like the colours and header from the blog that did the print for you of dd, charlie motel?, love those shades of green and cream, same colours ds's room is painted in.

meri, i know what you mean about the header, i do have an embroidery in a hoop atm which is meant to be for a new header, a flat applique version of the owl, i want to photograph it when finished, and either leave space to one side to stitch lucykate crafts or use photoshop and type it.
