It's a mosaic for a local exhibition. The exhibition is title 'International Year of Planet Earth 2008' and covers nine themes of Groundwater, Hazards, Earth & Health, Climate, Resource Issues, Megacities, Deep Earth, Ocean, and Soil.

I've chosen to do a tsunami. It's not completed yet so I have to submit a photo of a section which is finished. I've tried uploading a photo of the entire piece but the photo is too big to upload.

This is my first exhibition piece. I took up mosaic two years ago at an evening class.

I'll be writing a design statement tonight if anybody wants to critique that too.

Thanks.

I thought I was going mad until I twigged you must have put the pics on your profile

I like 3 best

chrissnow · 26/03/2008 15:57

Ooh being awkward, but 2. They are all gorge btw. Very talented. 1 looks like it could be a dragon (very apt). There's just something about the shapes in number 2 that make me want to see more.

they're all lovely - but probably 1 or 3

(loved doing a mosaic course years ago, sooo absorbing )

Dragonbutter · 26/03/2008 16:21

Ok, so i've managed to upload a small photo of the full picture.
I'm a bit worried that it doesn't look so good as it's definitely a work in progress. The foreground has been grouted in black and is on a raised level from the background, about 6mm level difference from the background.
I'll start the background this weekend using stained glass and a lighter grout.
Hope this picture doesn't dissappoint. Those other pictures make it look a bit good.

Thanks for the opinions. sounds like picture 3 is the favourite so far.

Wow. That is seriously cool. Well done.
(going back to sulk now - No 2 is def best picture )

Dragonbutter · 26/03/2008 16:39

I like 2 but i've managed to get a bit of a shadow on the bottom left corner. I could retake it I suppose but it's a borrowed camera and it scares me.

Be brave
If you like 2, take another picture.

Dragonbutter · 26/03/2008 17:50

I'm going to go with the majority and say picture 3.

Anybody know anything about writing an artist statement?
