Macrame?

I have an ornament which is several little vials hanging from a rustic string. The string has broken and I want to replace it. I could just knot the vials onto a new length of string, but that would be boring. I can crochet, but I don't think that's the right sort of thing. What craft do I need? Macrame? Some other old sailors' craft?

Macrame you say? That sounds very interesting.
I saw a friend, a while ago and she had set up an incredible device to do her macrame on.
She created a hanging holder in the couple of hours that we were chatting. It was gorgeous.

This craft really needs resurrecting.

I have no idea.

Macrame is what's usually used but if you're even a little experienced in crochet you should be able to make a hanging holder for the vials. Use a thin cotton and small hook, I used to make holders for jam jars to hang them from trees for summer evening get-togethers.

I think I need a pattern, or at least some pictures of similar items.
