Knitters....what does this mean?

I'm going to attempt to knit the prismarine scarf, if anyone knows it. The pattern says " find the first full colour repeat". The yarn is uneek fingering. It starts off with different shades of blue/purple, then a sort of green with blue, then purple. Then onto orange. Does the first full colour repeat start after this? If so, I'm not using quite a bit of yarn. Is this right? I can post photos if it helps?

Find where the yarn starts with the blue and purple. You will waste a bit of yarn though.

Here’s the scarf’s project page on Ravelry.

There are 144 projects. If you read through the comments you might find something helpful.

If you need to be a member of Ravelry to read the comments and you’re not, let me know and I’ll see if there’s anything helpful. There may be other useful notes there, too.

Thanks for reply! So I've unravelled it (which I'm going to regret...) and am so much more confused! The yarn on the right is the start, and the far left is the orange. There is still more orange on the yarn...so I'm going to have keep going until I get to after the orange finishes? That's a LOT of wastage! Or is it after the first blue?

I would take it to mean that you make your slip knot at the start of the first full colour (any colour) rather than cast on and have half a run of (eg) green and then half of blue. Assuming you don't do a long tail cast on then you will have your cast on and first rows in one continuous colour.

Yes, I agree with @TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg . I think it means find the start of the first full section of a colour, i.e. if each section is 1m long, and there's a half metre of one colour at the beginning, discard that and start with the first full section of colour.

That makes sense to me, too.

Oh that makes so much sense! Thanks all!
