How did you do it?

Any tips to share?

hertsnessex · 13/03/2008 20:05

rantinghousewife · 13/03/2008 20:08

There's a very basic tutorial here

BroccoliSpears · 13/03/2008 20:30

Yes, that sort of thing ranting.

They are very expensive (see here!) which is what got me thinking it must be easy enough to make one.

If you scroll down on this one, it's not strictly a tute but she does say how she does it.

BroccoliSpears · 13/03/2008 20:45

Thank you ranting.

I shall give it a go. How hard can it be?!

I reckon actually, you could make one of those quite easily. You can get board from one of those builders places and I'd use quilters wadding to pad it out before you cover it with your material. Then staple the material to it, use fabric glue for the ribbons.

rantinghousewife · 13/03/2008 20:46

Are you going to show us?

BroccoliSpears · 13/03/2008 20:50

If it's a success I will!

Yes, agree about padding.

Was also wondering about whether to weave the ribbon or just have one direction overlaying the other. If I put buttons or pins over the crosses of won't matter.

My dd is only little so she'll love it even if I bodge it!

I'd try and weave it, I think but, it wouldn't matter. You just fabric glue the cross sections anyway.

rantinghousewife · 13/03/2008 20:52

Am rather taken with it, may have a go myself.

windygalestoday · 13/03/2008 20:55

i had home decorating mag that showed how to make one of these it suggested using big picture frame from charity shop and covering with fbric ttatching the ribbons gluing then putting back in frame minus glass-done in an hour it said?

BroccoliSpears · 13/03/2008 20:56
