where do you buy colouring books, pens, glue etc etc

dds go through mountains of colouring books and felt pens, glue etc

its their favourite thing by miles - sitting colouring in

sometimes the books are so expensive - i dont mind paying for decent felt pens as i think the cheap ones ae just really crap

bt dds dont mind really cheapo coloyring books - only i rarely find any!

where do you ge tyours ?

Our £1 shop sell them 2 for £1. They're on greyish paper so V V cheapo. But since DS is 2 and just at scribbly stage he doesn't mind!

we dont have wilkinsons up here, but plenty poundland. thanks!

dds dont really mind cheap and nasty grey books for just day to day colouring in

they have smart books they keep for special. special what, i dont know

Ooh I used to love those mosaic type ones where you could design your own pattern. Those were my 'special'ones

InStore is good too. Any chirpy cheapy shop. I get things like stickers and shiney paper and tissue and chalk and anything crafty. Lots of colouring books and activity books.

nailpolish, if you want good quality colouring in stuff then I would recommend Stabilo - from art shops.
They are not ruinously priced and their pencils and pens last forever. The pens will go on for a fortnight without their caps.
Berol pens are also good for this.
To be honest we got sick of buying cheap stuff and then finding it was useless within weeks.
Some of the Berol pens we have were inherited from MIL's teacher stash and must be 10 years old.
Stabilo do two brilliant types of pencil - Woodies, which are chubby wax pencils that everyone makes a beeline for on playdates - and triangular ones with really vivid colours. Honestly worth the extra £

Ikea do great long rolls of paper ( a bit like wallpaper lining paper - which you could also use now I think about it) for a few quid and also packs of coloured/white paper.

another question - you know hte tubs of beads in ikea - are they the same as hama beads - ie can you iron them and they stick together? anyone know? ta

Asda - they have really cheap little pencils for about 20p and felt tips for about £1, although you can get more expensive ones. I think they are pretty cheap for colouring books too.

You could try some of those discount bookshops - Book World is one I think.

I don;t tend to buy colouring books much now.......I print out loads of colouring pages from the computer....that way they get what each like character wise.

I get the value paper packs from tesco, and set the PC printer to 'draft', and they go round the pictures in black if they want to and I use less ink.

only probelm is the amunt of loose paper around my house right now, as they spread them out so much whereas books are obviously contained better!!!

I will however be paying more for pens tho in the future as they are drying out so quickly. mind you, the art tins full of pens from the disney store are great, and they can;t mix up each others stuff so much as the character is on the pens etc (saves the arguement over who left the pens out)

normally get craft stuff for DS from The Works, Au Naturale or similar.. and coloring books from Tesco. But normally he isn't that bothered about arts, he jsut likes to scribble his "Machines" and mess around with a bit of glitter glue then potter on to the next mess he can make.

i dont like tesco, i find their colourign books expensive. but i dont like tesco AT aLL anyway

If you are printing hundreds of pages why not punch holes in them and get your kids a cheap lever arch file to keep them all in?

ah now there is a good tip hedgehog, IF they would use the bloody things!!!!

they do have some, so I may just be forced to beat them round the head with them tell them to start using them or I will bin the paper!

and naily.......no idea how cos my eldest DD did it, but setting the printer/PC to draft means the ink lasts lots longer.

only problem is that I have no idea how to set it back again, so anything I print at the moment looks like I am running out.....

If you have a Lidls near you it's worth a visit. I recently bought some amazing pens, paint, paper and coloured card - all really cheap and excellent quality.
