I tried different hook (cheap} and had to bin it - as just rubbish. Didn't 'hook' the wool properly Confused

Surprised that it it made so much difference Grin but perhaps I shouldn't have been that surprised....

Tbh I find the Pony crochet hooks sold in most craft shops are the best. Any novelty ones I’ve tried or bamboo ones etc are rubbish and never quite the right amount of pointy-ness to stick through your work or the right hooky-ness to pull the yarn through.

I’ve got clover hooks, both types but I find the gold ones the paint flakes off and catches. I find I go to the cheapies with the silicone covers more.

I like the tulip soft grip ones - for me they slide much better through the loops than the clover

ToadyPoady · 21/04/2023 07:01

Tulip and clover amour are both brilliant for me, I couldn’t choose between them.

PaniniHead · 21/04/2023 07:05

Clover or addi swing hooks

CottonPyjamas · 21/04/2023 07:12

I have a set of bamboo hooks, but if I'm honest, I prefer the cheap metal ones that come free with the magazines. I haven't delved any deeper into hook collection though

Tontostitis · 21/04/2023 07:14

Tulip and Clover Armour for me too. My Tulip hooks have their own leather case, they have polished Japanese steel tips and are tge absolute best for crochet but I also use my Clover hooks as those have a bigger grip and the two different grips stop my hands from hurting.

I have the pink leather case for my set of Tulip hooks too - my DH was happy as it sorted Christmas in one click a few years ago and I love it!

Beautiful colours on your project, the green and lilac are stunning together.

Like @FatAgainItsLettuceTime for traditional crochet I like knit pro waves.
For Tunisian crochet I like knit pro rose wood interchangeable needs. I can't get on with ridge Tunisian crochet hooks much preferring interchangeable with flexible cables.

Wow - thanks so much everyone - will be having a browse this Saturday.

I think I'm using a pony one, which works just fine, but it's nice to know what else is out there!

@Tontostitis lovely work there.

I'm happy with a cheap hook. I actually dislike the ones with a "proper" handle as I seem to twist the hook a lot and a handle hampers the movement. I have loads as I rescue them from charity shop whenever I see them 😂

Crochetqween · 21/04/2023 17:34

I use Knitpro Symfonie. I like the way they glide through the yarn smoothly.

I don’t like any with handles personally.

AnonyMousely · 22/04/2023 20:48

I like the søstrene grene ones with the silicone handles.
