The other thread is so painfully slow so lets hope a shiny new one will run a smoothly as a well behaved sewing machine. Pin your places here my lovely stitchers Smile

They look fab @PickAChew. A trio of lovely blues as well.

I’d completely forgotten about Remy raglan and I meant to buy it during the SH7 sale!

It was a free pattern on one of the magazines a while back so there's quite a few of them knocking around on destash type places and charity shops if you keep your eye out for them.

pastabest · 05/06/2023 09:01

Also has anyone seen TATB are launching a new pattern 'Esti' I can't work out from the teaser this morning if it's a strappy dress or top (probably both!).

Jins · 05/06/2023 09:04

Great tip @pastabest. I think I’d better check my pattern stash in case it was with a magazine I bought.

pastabest · 05/06/2023 09:14

Just had a check through mine and it was on simply sewing back in September 21.

was a good month that month, both the Remy raglan and the Sewgirl Cecily dress were the patterns, iI think ita probably the only issue I've made both of the patterns!

Jins · 05/06/2023 09:48

Ah. I think I’d probably stopped my subscription by then 😥. I’ll have a look on various selling sites. Although it’s a useful pattern so I should probably just buy it

InMySpareTime · 05/06/2023 11:17

Designed and made this top today, it was going to be more wrappy but I forgot how big my arse is compared to my waist!
The bottom seam got a bit chewed but it's otherwise good, and should be nice with leggings round the house.

GreyGreyGrey · 05/06/2023 12:26

Does anyone sew from Burda magazine?

TragicMuse · 05/06/2023 12:44

I really like that @InMySpareTime

Does anyone sew from Burda magazine?

I have in the past. I made some nice dresses from there. But it’s a hassle having to trace out patterns and add seam allowance.

DollyParkin · 05/06/2023 13:13

Nice top! I love a wrap style. So comfortable and forgiving.

CrimsonAlligator · 05/06/2023 13:36

Wow, you’ve all been so productive over the weekend. I’m in awe of all your creations!

No sewing for me this weekend, unless we count hand stitching a sketchbook…

The pattern & fabric for the Ogden Cami arrived earlier today. I couldn’t decide between all the different shades of pink available on the Minerva website, so I picked two, both equally vibrant! I think it’s going to be fun sewing this one up ☺️

I got my remy raglan pattern from the magazine. It's the version before the sleeve hack but that was available online. I sized down considerably, @SBAM and did a small FBA to stop it from looking too short at the front. Of course, my shelf has diminished since then. The boob fairy has decided I don't need it any more. (I'm not complaining!)

I've made some burda trousers. The fit is dire, despite my best efforts. The fabric has some stretch but poor recovery so I'm reliant on my belt to keep them on!

GreyGreyGrey · 05/06/2023 15:48

Shame, I always found the Burda fit very good…though my menopause body has changed quite a bit since I last sewed trousers.

Jins · 05/06/2023 16:58

I’ve not sewed from burda magazine but I’ve used burda patterns. Their trousers are a perfect fit for me with no adjustments needed.

Wildernesstips · 05/06/2023 17:46

I have sewn from the Burda magazine before. I have written on my pattern pieces “add a seam allowance” because I inevitably forget!

SewinginIreland · 05/06/2023 17:59

I finished my Style Arc Barry pants yesterday and they’re now my new favourite shape. I made the Ethel version previously but had to re-draft the crotch section as it was a bit too low and clown like for my short body.

In the Barry, I took out the faux fly and also put in an ordinary elasticated waistband instead of the paper bag style as I never tuck in my tops. (please excuse very messy sewing room that needs de-cluttering.)

@SewinginIreland lovely trousers! And glad to see a fellow messy sewist, I’ve barely got space to walk to the machine.
I made a little baby hat last night. Next up is the matching romper but the instructions are all in German so it might take a minute to decide what I’m supposed to do.

Brefugee · 05/06/2023 19:10

i sew in German - if you want i can have a gander at the instructions for you?

And in answer to pp above: I use Burda patterns, from shops, online, and from the magazines. But not so much lately because of my refusal to accept my new (round) body shape.

NutellaEllaElla · 05/06/2023 19:51

@InMySpareTime that top looks lovely.

@CrimsonAlligator I love those colours you chose, they blend so well you could even do different colours front to back on the same cami.

Well done on your lovely makes @SewinginIreland and @SBAM

@Brefugee thank you for the offer - there’s pictures along with the words, and I can remember ruckteil and vorderteil from GCSE so I think I can manage, but I’ll come back to you if I get stuck.

@CrimsonAlligator those colours go so well together, I think you could have a lot of fun colourblocking with those.

Thanks for the advice @PickAChew - I suspected sizing down might be wise after looking at the finished measurements - there’s something like 10” of ease in the bust!

I think you have made your Barrys into Bobs with those tweaks! Grin

SewinginIreland · 05/06/2023 21:29

@pastabest OMG, I didn’t realise how similar Bob and Barry are… and they sound like two dudes from the 1970’s. 😳😂

pastabest · 05/06/2023 21:50

I know not many here buy from minerva but OMG I am going to bankrupt myself this week in their 25% off for their craft club members in their 25th birthday celebrations.

I spent A LOT on fabric yesterday evening even with with 25% off and today its 25% off all patterns. I've loaded my basket up with all the indie patterns I want and haven't bought yet (only 6 but at £10-£23 a pattern pre discount they add up!).

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/06/2023 22:48

I finished my granddaughter’s dress, I’m really happy with it. Now starting on another dress for me. 🙂
