I have 10x 50g balls of Aran weight wool. Online calculators are frying my brain. Do I have enough to make a blanket?

As per title! I have some lovely brown and white undyed wool that I bought on holiday in Cornwall about 15 years ago so I thought this is the perfect winter to use it whileI avoid watching the football.

I can't work out if I have enough to make a patchwork throw? Or maybe just a shawl if I'm being too optimistic?

It says to knit as Aran and I haven't knitted for a while so stitches would be fairly basic.

Any estimates appreciated. 😊

I don't think you have enough for a blanket. This link suggests 2.8kg for standard blanket. You have 0.5kg. Could do a shawl or if it's patchwork could you add in other wool as well?

Thanks. Yes that's what I thought after I posted! Maybe buy some other Aran weight so introduce a third colour. Then I guess I can do it as patchwork squares so I can spread the colours out when I have enough.

work out the yardage of your yarn, then have a browse on www.ravelry.com/ to find a pattern that uses the amount you have using the advanced search option.

I'd need to do a swatch to work that out wouldn't I? I read about that earlier. I'll do that tomorrow (football almost finished so my freedom is coming to an end for the night 😂) then take a look at that site. Thanks.
