I just relized that aside from one knitting book ( DominKNITrix ) and the slightly novelty AntiCraft book I have no actual crafting books. I have borrowed several from the library but all i really own are some magazines.

What are your favourite crafting books?

What books do you covet?

knitting
crochet
beading
stamping
softies
ceramics
painting

whatever craft you obsess over love

I have a huge wish list on amazon I'm slowly getting through! My friend did just buy me a fab book that I'd wanted for ages, it's this one. Now I want this and this, because DD would love them, and DS likes to help cook. Fingers crossed for my birthday in March!!

Just got `Yeah, I made it myself' . Lovely dh bought it for me for my birthday it's fab!! Also bought The Crafters Companion with some birthday cash, but haven't had chance to look at it yet. MIL bought me The Happy Hooker (is she trying to tell me something ) book for Christmas, I like looking at the pretty crochet pics and then comparing them to my sad crochet chain and thinking one day..................

Hey GM - DH bought me the sock monkey book you've mentioned for my birthday too -he's a very good boy well sometimes. I made a monkey from a pair of rainbow socks, DS calls him Guggy and tbh the monkey is the stuff of nightmares but hey he's homemade.

Gingermonkey · 28/01/2008 20:17

monkey, how the devil are you?! I did send you an email t'other week...but I have been told my email is being selective in who it sends to....obviously my email doesn't like you much. ha ha ha ha!!!!

Whizzz · 28/01/2008 20:20

I don't know about you, but I buy a book, look through it going 'Ooooo', 'arghhhhh', tell myself I will make at least 5 things out of it, then put it on a shelf & forget I have it

rantinghousewife · 28/01/2008 20:22

Knitting patterns of the 1940s here
Lily chin crochet book here
and because I learnt to sew using this book I'm a big fan of this book

rantinghousewife · 28/01/2008 20:23

The 1940s knitting one is especially lovely, I take it off the shelf and stroke it now and then

thirdwisearticmonkey · 28/01/2008 21:06

GM- your email is very rude, I'm fine thanks, how's you?
Whizzz - I do that with cookery books, oh what a pretty picture, I like Nigellas cardi, right what's in the freezer for dinner........
Ranting - I stroke Japense Washi paper - is there any hope for me?

Gingermonkey · 29/01/2008 19:17

Yes, my email decided to refuse an email from one of my friends the other day - and I did want to talk to her....very rude.

I also buy books, scan them, go 'oooh, I'll make that', put them on the shelf, forget about them forever
