ok, my birthday is coming up an dI am thinking of hinting (heavily) to DH that he should get me these (ie th eleading him to the pc, selecting needles and adding them to a cart, putting in his switch number and pressing BUY kind of hinting). I never seem to have the right sized needles for a project and am too far from yarn shops to get easily so I thought these could be useful

does anyone on here use them? what do you think of them?
I quite like knitting with wooden needles but think these would be so handy (and great for travelling too)

persaude me! (or dissuade me if you hate 'em!)

I also found this new online seller who have been really helpful (based in Essex): yarnbox who stock Artesano.

Did you demand your £1.50 back? If you find a supplier of Malabrigo worsted, I think that would work for your tea cosy as well - Stash in Putney had some, Get Knitted are promising a new delivery as well at some stage.

ooh that looks nice Florence, thanks

yes, iKnit said I can have refund - not sure how I get it though

he just made a mistake, seemingly the silk manos is £11 so he reckons he got confused and thought I had that - fair enough

I believe my harmonys are on order. Birthday at the weekend so I hope they come in time. Twisted DHs arm until he confirmed they'd been ordered as I couldn't possibly take the risk that my very unsubtle hints had fallen on deaf ears (wouldn't be a first so one has to be extra careful) am very excited. Requested two extra sets of pins in 9 and 12mm and am trying to plan how to make a nice fabric holder for them all as I really dislike that nasty plastic pouch

hi, am resurrecting this thread to ask if there is any virtue in buying Knit Picks Harmony Wood DPN and Options sets as opposed to just the Options set. i am hopefully getting an interchangeable set for my birthday.

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/02/2008 09:37

bump!

florenceuk · 14/02/2008 09:53

Do you use small DPNs? I do for some things, but I am experimenting with magic loop (which the Harmonies are good for as they have a very flexible cable). IME DPNs are good for finishing off hats, socks and other small diamter things. I imagine if you are a keen sock knitter then the DPN set might be quite attractive, especially as it goes down to a 2mm needle (I think).

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/02/2008 10:02

thanks! think i will get them!

jeangenie · 14/02/2008 10:21

oooh, my options arrived yesterday and I think am in love!

thanks again florenceUK - can you remind me of the function of the little pin again? I can screw mine on without it and can't remember what i should be doing with it

I didn't get the dpns beacuse I don't knit lots of things on small dp needles, but I may add them in later if I start on socks, as I would like to

still say it is a shame about the nasty case they come in though, feels all wrong for such lovely, tactile needles to live in a hard plastic pouch

There is a little hole you can put it in to give you leverage to tighten up the join (adviseable in case they unscrew). Maybe you could make a business designing nice needle pouches? These are pretty yuck: clover cases

jeangenie · 14/02/2008 11:49

yes, aren't they horrible ...hmm, could this be a lightbulb moment that will enable me to escape my daily toil???

thanks for tip about pin thingy - I was worried I was missing something

fancy another iKnit or S&B night anytime soon? I enjoyed that last one, was lovely to meet you
