Getting rid of the mark after letting trousers down

Ds's school trousers were too long last year, so I took them up. Now I've let them down again there's a strong wear mark at last year's hem.

Any tips to improve it? Sharpie?

A grey Sharpie is probably best approach although tbh after a few washes and wears it’ll become less obvious
