Help with fabric type please

This is probably a really daft question - but here goes

I want to order clothing and fabric that is airy, lightweight and non-stretchy - for blouses and nightwear.

But I have been sent a stretchy
t-shirt type fabric that may well be cotton for all I know but is not what I’m after.
What should I be looking for in the description to make sure I get it right next time.

Chiffon, definitely if you're making dress and nightwear.

Also, non stretchy fabric is 'plain weave'. Jersey (t shirt fabric) is 'knitted'.

If you want airy as in cool, natural and breathable, cotton lawn might be ideal - thin fabric good for making blouses/dresses
