I need buttons!!

Please can anyone help me find some robot buttons to finish of a jacket for DS1.

I made a jacket with a car theme that was really simple to find buttons for, but this time DS has specified robots and I can't find robot buttons anywhere!

Obviously I could do without, but I have a vision of the completed masterpiece

Will try and go to my local shop this lunchtime, how many would you need and what size/colour if they have them?

mysterymachine · 08/01/2008 13:54

Washersaurus, I've been to my local shop today and asked, they haven't seen any robot buttons but are going to their supplier this weekend so if you don't have any I can pop in again next week.

southeastastra · 08/01/2008 13:59

weird but from america

Washersaurus · 08/01/2008 19:29

Mysterymachine, thank you for checking your local shop for me, I will let you know if I manage to find any before next week

Those strange clay ones from America were the only ones that I could find online - its a difficult google search as 'buttons' are pin badges in America.

..Oh gawd, I'm not going to have to "create" something from FIMO or the like am I? . Maybe I should just put some big round colourful buttons on it instead

i know, i did google for a while for some.

making them would be fun wouldn't it? fimo lasts for ages

Washersaurus · 08/01/2008 20:46

Well I thank you for your efforts anyway

I really wouldn't know where to start with making my own with FIMO - I can only just about use a sewing machine

Washersaurus · 08/01/2008 21:19

Oooh please, I would be ever so grateful if you could ask - I only need 4/5.

what about getting some robot fabric, and covering some of those button kit ones instead? Would that work?

Gingermonkey · 08/01/2008 21:41

Like this kit so they look like this kind of thing?
You could use fabric like this one here?

Washersaurus · 08/01/2008 21:54

Gingermonkey are you fabulous, I hadn't thought about doing that, and I absolutely love the robot fabric. I have been looking for some just like that for aaaages!

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 08/01/2008 21:56

Gingermonkey · 08/01/2008 22:52

bugger.
Try superbuzzy instead....do not be afraid of the dollars, they ship to the UK and are reliable too.

Washersaurus · 09/01/2008 13:38

I've got my mum on the case now. She lives in Florida most of the time and has tracked that robot fabric down for me. She will be able to bring it me back next time she comes back over - hoorah!

Thank you Gingermonkey and everyone else for all your help. I think I will give the DIY button kits a try, unless anyone manages to find me some robot buttons!

Gingermonkey · 09/01/2008 21:07

of washersaurus' cheap holiday options in Florida!!!

rantinghousewife · 12/01/2008 13:30

Washersaurus, I had a look and I asked market button man but, he said that he definitely didn't have any robot buttons and he thought they might be quite a difficult thing to track down. We had a bit of a hunt through his old boxes as he thought he had some old and weird stuff in their (he was right!) but no robots. Sorry.

Washersaurus · 12/01/2008 19:29

Oh well, thank you very much for looking. I will have to go with the DIY buttons then - I hope they are easy to make.....
